New Chapter Books for Tweens

Few things in life are better than a new book. It is exhilarating to be the first one to crack open a book that has never been read before, to smell that fresh-off-the-press smell, and to hear the spine of the book crackle when you open its cover for the very first time. While the pandemic did mean that some books are a little slower getting to us than we had hoped, we never stopped ordering new materials. Now that the library is open, we are busy catching up and getting these books out on the shelves so you can enjoy them. This list of books are some of the top picks for the fall, most of them haven’t even been published yet!! You can put a hold on these books now though, and maybe, just maybe, you could be the very first one to crack the spine of these fantastic titles. 

Becoming Muhammad Ali by James Patterson (Pub date: October 5th, 2020)

Muhammad Ali is one of the most famous people in sports, and certainly one of the most revered to have picked up a boxing glove. If you are interested in sports, and the people who play them, then you should not miss this read!! James Patterson and Kwame Alexander are exceptional authors, and here they have crafted a telling of the exceptional childhood of Muhammad Ali up until his 17th birthday. Readers will gain insight into what his early life was like, including his childhood friends, struggles in school, the racism he faced, and his discovery of boxing that came about after his bike was stolen at the age of 12. This one is you you, sports fans!! Request it from the library.

Bravelands: Oathkeeper by Erin Hunter (Pub date: September 22nd, 2020)

The 6th and final installment in Erin Hunter’s Bravelands series! For those of you who have been reading the series, you will be gripped by this thrilling conclusion to the series!! The Great Herd is united against Titan, the rogue lion who has been causing problems. A plan is put in place to defeat Titan once and for all, but what, and who, are the animals willing to risk? Request it from the library.

Closer to Nowhere by Ellen Hopkins (Pub Date: October 6th, 2020)

Told in verse from the point of view of Hannah and Cal, cousins who share some similarities even they didn’t know about, not to mention the family they want to save!! Touches on the the topics of family and belonging. Hopkins also wrote ‘People Kill People’ and ‘Crank.’ Request it from the library.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End by Jeff Kinney (Pub Date: October 27th, 2020)

Everyone loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and now they are back with the 15th installment in the series! Is Greg in waaaaay over his head? You’ll have to read this one to find out!! Request it from the library.

Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Posh Paris Adventure by Rachel Renée Russell (Pub Date: October 13, 2020)

Nikki Maxwell deals with the trials and triumphs of middle school in this fifteenth installment of the incredibly popular Dork Diaries series! Request it from the library.
